Low Oil Pressure (maybe?) - 89 4Runner V6

Hi - I have an 89 4Runner that's been in the family since 1991. It has 87000 miles on it - V6 motor. I have noticed over the last year that the oil pressure gauge has been steadily showing less and less oil pressure. I have done a lot of reading and found that most people think these gauges are generally inaccurate - but it worries me that it has been consistent for 20 years and then started to very as of late.

There are no other symptoms - runs great, no loss of power, but I keep wondering if I am going to fry the motor because I am ignoring something.

So my thoughts - oil pump? oil pressure sending unit? Is there a way to check the oil pressure? I am no mechanic, but I have a decent set of tools and am fairly mechanically inclined.

Any help would be appreciated....thanks!

what oil you running? I would hook up a manual gauge and see what the pressure really is, you cant go by the factory gauge.

Not sure on the oil - had a local shop do the last change. Where does the manual gauge hook up? Is there a specific size I need to get? I am always up for a new tool!
