1988 toyota 22re won't start/ no spark
I have a 1988 toyota pickup that i recently put a new head on and now it won't start. I checked for spark and it has no spark. When i had the engine aprt, i ran the distributor through a parts washer and i was wondering if that could've messed up the pickup coil. It also makes a loud noise from the igniter, like a knocking noise. I've verified that everything is hooked up right so i don't know what the problem could be. I also ran the codes and there was none. Any information regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you should keep anything electronic or even electrical out of a parts washer (are you talking paint thinner only, or a water mix?) The igniter is strictly an electronics box; any sound at all coming from the igniter would be bad. Are you sure that's where it's coming from? You can use a cheap HF stethoscope, or even the tube from inside a roll of paper towels works well.

I have an 88 pickup that I can't get to start either... but I didn't put my dizzy in a parts washer.... but I don't seems to be getting any spark.... tailpipe smells of fresh gas though.... firing order is 1-3-4-2 right? and there's no egr on my engine...any adjustments I can make to compensate for that? Just rebuilt the engine..... is it possible that the timing chain is off even though the dots line up and the valves close on number 1 when I'm at tdc?
