I have read a lot of information on here about the ever ongoing water pump saga. I recently replaced the head and timing components. Went ahead and did the water pump also which is now leaking some.

I need to replace the studs/bolts.

I called and ordered some new manifold studs/nuts from Toyota today since I have a new head with shiny new threads and asked about the water pump studs/bolts. He told me they order them in bulk so to get one of a certain size I'd have to order ten of them....you get the idea.

I haven't been able to find any kits online that sell just what is needed for the pump. Anyone have any luck finding such a thing?

And sure I could just get the measurements for the existing ones right? Not an option since I have broken/lost some of them....awesome I know.

So if anyone has links to a kit that would be great. I have tracked down a few diagrams that should help.

Just what do you need ?

The bolts to bolt the pump to the timing cover?? Which are a few different lengths.

Wrong length in the wrong hole can break things as well.

do you also need the studs that the pulley bolts to??

If there are any kits to be had I never heard of them.

On some Toyota hardware it comes in packages of 10.

I deal with my local dealer I never had good luck trying to order online

 

I replaced the clutch fan not that long ago which came with new studs so I ordered new nuts for those when I ordered manifold studs, but I'm ok there.

Yes the studs and bolts that bolt the pump on are what I need. Also trying to figure out what ones go where. I had them taped to a diagram I made when they came out, but that has been lost so even when I get what I need I will have to narrow down where they go.

 

I plan on trying to talk more to the guy in parts when the manifold studs come in to see if I can work out another deal. But like I said earlier he told me those they only sell ten at a time.....I mean I guess worst case I could order 50 studs/bolts if that's what I have to do but trying to avoid that haha.

He didn't even seem to sure what sizes they needed to be or where they went. So I figured I'd do more research and tap some forum intel.

Now on eBay I did find bolt kits but they are complete for everything including oil pump etc and the kit is 60-70 bucks

That right there seals it up short of me getting the hardware which is hard to do if you don't know what it all is! But I do now.....thank you.

I'd still be interested in finding a kit for them. I'll stop into the parts store with that list and see what I can find.

The studs are for having something to hold the pump.

It can be interesting holding the pump starting the bolt at the same time.

M6x1.00x25 mm

I knew there was a odd bolt in there but it has been a while since I had one off. If people have problems I did not as of yet.

 

How many are studs? Or just get two or three as studs to hold it in place at a few spread out points?

 

It's indicated in the one you posted, two studs top left and bottom right corner, 5 of m6 bolts.

Do not forget to reset your torque when you go from the M8 back to the M6's when you're doing a water pump.

Sure 3lbs doesn't sound like much but if the bolt isn't in great shape... *snap*

Did it yesterday and felt like a tool for forgetting.

And FYI/WIW, 3 studs on my 94 2wd, upper left, upper most, and lower center.

Swinging the PS idler/tensioner pulley bracket out of the way lets you see in there easy and gives a bit more room to work. Remove the left most and upper right bolts and loosen the lower right, now you can rotate the bracket against the PS pump and secure it (whatever works for you, mech/baling wire, loop the PS belt over the bracket and fluid resi').
