I just did timing chain, chain guides, with the kit from ENGBLDR and when I got finished I fired it up and got it to idle. I had to adjust the distributor a little to get it to idle (sort of idle, pretty high rpms). Now, it will run but it has a really high pitch squeel that sounds like a jet engine or something coming from the rear passenger side of the engine. The sound seems to be coming from back at the rear of the intake. I checked the belts, but that doesn't seem to be where its coming from. I'm at a loss, and I don't want to fire it up again and make anything worse. Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? heres a video of the sound...

Heres stuff that may or may not be related...

-I think i have all the vacuum hoses hooked up correctly, but I supposed I could messed up
-the NEW parts I replaced are timing chain, guides, sprockets, water pump, TC cover, oil pump, head gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, intake gasket, oil pan gasket, head bolts
-thermostat housing was corroded and spewed coolant from the top coolant hose by thermostat
-bottom metal pipe(i think coolant) right above oil filter that bolts up under intake leaks and I think is missing a gasket
-belts do not appear to be squealing
-squealing gets louder and faster as the engine rpms get higher
-cam, pistons, valves, & those parts were not touched except for removing the head
-where the video is focused at the end is where the sound seems to be coming from
-in the video the rpms raise by themselves, no one hit the gas
-I can't tell if the sound is a squeal from air pressure or a metal grinding sound

Anyone have an idea? I appreciate the help

 

sounds like it could be bearing squel. Take off the belts one by one to eliminate which system is making noise.

 

Sounds like a vacuum leak maybe, after listening to it a few times. Sounds like a VSV opened and it rev's up (again maybe). Disconnect and plug off the TB ports, that'll be a quick easy test.

 

Did you figure out what the problem is. I did the same thing replacing the timing chain kit and have the same noise. Help!

 

This was a long time ago, but i believe it was a vacuum hose that i didnt get back on all the way. Go through and look over each and every hose, especially all the ones on the top of the engine, and see if one is bad. If it makes you feel better, it still runs like a champ to this day.
