My 3.0 is feeling its age. Come this summer its getting parked for a much required overhaul.

Back in the day I use to drive a Supercharged 3.8 Mustang. Ran well, fast, and got surprisingly good mileage. Miss it.

So here is the deal. The Super Coupe 3.8 using the same bellhousing as the 5.0, its smaller, and puts down HP 210@4000 and lb-ft 315@2600, all unmoded. Overdrive pulleys, headers, etc should get me 400lbft.

Has anyone completed a swap using the FORD 3.8?

 

I'm gonna be the first to say which you should know its coming, have you looked at the 3.4 swap? I know I have seen some threads on here about some trying the 5.0 swap but I can't remember off hand if they were successful at a reasonable price? I'm sure anythings possible with deep wallets. Someone will chime in with better info but I have never seen a thread on the 3.8, whatever you do make sure to do a build thread

 

As a long time lurker, I knew that question would come up.

Out here the 5vzfe seems to go for a premium. Its really unreal how much Toyota engines seem to go for. I can get a low mileage 5.0 from a 95 mustang for 400 bucks, but the cheapest 3.4 i can find with low miles out here(Utah) is 1300 bucks.

The Supercoupe 3.8 are always showing up in the PickNPulls out here.

To be honest, I have looked into pretty much every Toyota engine. Surprisingly the 1jz, and 2jz, seem to be reasonably priced.
