So i just got my 5speed, 3.4L, 96 4runner sr5 4wd. love the truck, but it needed a nail removed form the rear tire.

while i was at midus they said the drivers side front wheel bearing is junk and needs to be replaced. they want some 400$s to "repack" it, whatever the ˟˟˟˟ that means.

i see wheel bearings are 60-70$ online, but i also understand they are pressed in, which i can not do without a press, which i dont have, or have access too.

can i buy the front "hub" or whatever they call them on 4runners with the wheel bearing in it used anywhere? is there another answer here for less then 400?

how do i know if its really bad? they hiit the tire when it was mounted and lifted on a lift, and said "when i hit the tire you can tell its bad". im pretty automotively inclined, but i know zero about wheel bearings.

someone help me, also im in aurora colorado near the aurora mall if anyone local can help...
