Electical Issue

Electical Issue
I picked up an 1984 pickup mid September.
I have battery charging issues.. New alternator... New voltage regulator...
The ignition, lights, heater are wired directly to the battery... That's the way it was wired when I got the truck.
The wiring harness from the alternator is messed up... Leaving the alternator is- 3 wires- black, green, yellow... It enters the 1st clip as- white with black stripe, green, yellow into a 4 wire clip. Leaving the clip- there's a white green stripe wire which dead ends, the 3 remaining wires are butt connect to become something else... It a nightmare and is driving me crazy, what wires to what and from where?

Your best bet is to find an FSM for your truck and follow wiring diagram. Worst case, sometimes the Haynes/Chilton manuals have readable diagrams. But they're more "one size fits all" type diagrams. It may not be exactly specific to your model.

I do have a Haynes manual, but it cover the years 79-95. I'm trying to locate an earlier publication more specific to the year.
The wire leaving the main terminal on the alternator is 10g white, it does make it to the fuze panel. It does make it to the battery, but it turns out to be the power source to the heater.
I did find a shop 2 1/2 hours away that will clean up the wiring but i'm guessing it will cost an arm & an leg plus the first born to comlete the job.
