2003 4Runner - pics, advice, 18" enkei rims, answers?

hi i saw the 03 4runner on toyota's website and was wondering about people's thoughts. i like the old look better but it was due for a refresh - just wish it didn't look so bubbly and rounded/bloated. What are the main differences - for example, I'm glad that the back window still slides down. I liked 4runners b/c they were boxy and could come w/ the big fender flares and 31" bfg tires but now they have ugly fake fender flares, 15" ugly rims, etc. Anyone know what the 18" enkei accessory rims look like? Are there any other pics or discussions/thoughts on the 4runner or a comparo of what's new and stuff? I guess its too early yet. I am due for a new truck and am looking at the new land rover disco's and new jeeps (i told myself i wouldn't buy another chrysler tho) and 4runners but i like the old style better i think...

Hey welcome to the board. The 03' Runner seems to be slowly growing on us all here. It's not exactly a love at first sight truck. It takes time to get to you, and after seeing Corey's post about the new Runner off road it seemed to me at least to gain an even bigger respect. The 03' Runner can hang with and show up most any other stock SUV out there, it has alot of the features that the new Disco has, not quiet at many but alot more than it used too. I know your driving a Jeep now but I would certainly never advise you or anyone to get one in the first place let alone another one, Jeep(Just Empty Every Pocket) that little play on words just comes to truth way to often with the newer Jeeps(post 86' after Chrysler took over). You don't nessarily have to buy an 03' you can still get your hands on a really nice 02' and do plenty of mods. to it and join us all here in the pursuit of the ultimate Runner. I'm going to stop now because I could brag about Runners all day long, but I'm going to leave it open for some of the more experianced guys around here to chime in. I'm sure they will soon. Good luck dmcgibbo.

I DON'T LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:ma d:
We had a what we call here a new food and product show and the new 4runner was there......uglier in person at least the standard one is, the limited was better looking. I sat inside and I absolutely hate the climate controls, didn't see the navigation screen, but I will want to later on, if it's as good as the Lexus RX300 (which by review i've heard is pretty fast) then it will be worth picking up, navigation isn't really necessary here but it would be an added convience, the aftermarket ones suck too.....we're not important enough to have a aftermarket navigation that really works or something. It does look a little bigger and I do like the way they moved around somethings, there is more cargo room...well meaning there are more pockets to put your stuff back there, kinda like the cubby hold we have on the right side, there are more by the tire humps and stuff, didn't get to check out the cargo shelf though, the trunk wouldn't open. Personally I think i'll wait to see the new lexus SUV. I didn't notice the height difference, although that wasn't what I was mainly looking at. So maybe it will be a couple years before the new 4runner grows on me, but usually when I don't like something it doesn't change. Go check it out butnut????

I am not sure if TRD has anything in production for it yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are hard at work on it right now. I expect a S/C for the V8 soon.
