Missfiring and high idle issue.

okay so i bought an 86 pickup, was stock a 22re (i believe) and now its a 22re. it is running with a high idle and now has a misfire issue once it is warmed up, especially at idle so i replaced the rotor and cap (i think they were already replaced ) and got new spark plugs and wires, problem is still here. Im thinking the timing could be out, leaving unburnt fuel going into the header and combusting in there... would that be possible? also, if it was swapped then i heard something about an electric fule pump being needed? where would that be located? and where is my fule filter so that i can change that, im sure it is needed!. thanks for all the help and yes i have looked this up before but dont know if its the timing or a bad ignition coil or distributor or whatever, thanks!

If you can't even find the fuel filter without help, you sure ain't gonna be able to fix anything. I can see you're not putting much effort into diagnosing your problem, you want someone else to figure it out for you, why not educate yourself and learn how to diagnose problems instead of relying on information that might or might not be right.
Everybody on this forum is an expert to hear them tell it, but most of them are just greenies that are still learning the basics.
