Greasable shackles- hype? safe? worth it?
I'm thinking about finally turning my attention to my sagging rear leaf springs. I am going to go new OME springs & poly bushings.
At first I was thinking I'd go with both new greaseable hanger pins and greasable shackles. After doing some research, I found a number of posts on greasable hanger pin failures.
It seems that everyone sells greaseable shackles. I'm curious what the failure rate of the hardware is on these? Are they worth the extra $$?
Thanks in advance.

Be nice to know just how these hanger pins failed.
What kind of use.
If I needed to redo my rear springs and I had the luxury of being able to get these parts in a timely manor I would most likely go with them.

My bro has Downey (no longer in business) extended shackles with greasable pins and urethane bushings, on his 93 2wd. This little pickup is rode hard and put away wet. Never had any problems with them, and ride quality is much better with them.

Here's one link that I was referring to: http://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series...ring-pins.html
Note: the hanger pins are the bolts for the forward spring mounts in the rear, not the shackle ends.
