cat/02/exhaust options

hi, ok, i give up trying to find the info im looking for so i hope its alright i started a new post. i just cant come to a final conclusion from other threads.

2001 4runner 3.4 5VZ-FE

so, they stole my cat, cut the rear 02 sensor with it. left me with a big ol chunk of exhaust missing.

but i have options, best of wich would be to take it to toyota for certified oem repair. but cant afford that.

was thinkin about getting the magnaflow direct fit cat, it would have a place for the sensor to just bolt right into. found it for 250$ on amazon.

or im gonna weld a pipe to connect back with the muffler and just leave the cat out for now, use the URD 02 simulator. but they are tellin me that the engine needs both 02 sensors present and working for the engine to continue functioning properly. so in that case, i would have to install the downstream sensor as well. but how far back? would it matter, since i am using the sim as well? from what i hear these sensors are important to give info to computer about fuel/air, keep everything tuned, so the spacing would matter wouldnt it?

any ideas or advice?

1. how far back after the cat, or down the exhaust flow, does the rear sensor need to be?
2. do you think the magnaflow cat will work well with my runner?

thx in advance.

It all comes down to your emissions laws if any.

As to what you can do to make it legal.

There are lots of threads on here about this search( Help PO420)

Way more than I could explain in a hour.

Take it to a muffler shop and get it fixed.
