engine burning oil...
ive been keeping a close eye on my oil level for a few weeks now and it has been on the low side even though i have added oil each time. i have to add about 1/2 qt every 4 or 5 days (regular driving, haven't kept track of miles yet) but it continues to lose oil somewhere. I have looked all around it for an visible leaks but don't see any.
I had it in a shop a couple of months ago for other stuff and they said it will need a new head gasket soon but the oil looks and smells fine...
has anyone had this issue before on their truck?

Have you taken a look at the spark plugs? Seems you have to be burning it internally or dripping/leaking someplace externally where it is hitting something hot and burning off while driving thus creating no drips.
Give the engine a good degreasing, if needed, which may help to spot fresh oil.
