rear leaf install guru needed.....

I follow TG website instructions and install my 5 inch REAR leafs onto my 86 T4R. With the front spring mount 6" eye to eye from the original mount. This would be center of the hole..And for what ever reason, when i try flexing I am NOT tucking the tire like i wanted.. i end up hitting the area where the mud flaps are located. if i estimated, maybe 2-3 inch forward then the tire will tuck. That would mean moving the spring hanger 2-3 inch forward. Is my theory correct or did i do something wrong..BTW, rear shackle mount is at 2 inch from orginal mount, eye to eye.. and are 40 degree angle...shackles are previous 5inch, running on 35x12 tires.. please any thoughts would help?

If the tire is contacting the mud flap on full stuff, the the front hanger needs to move forward like you stated. Im sure you realize that when the spring flattens out, the shackle moves back and so does the axle/tire, this is why the tire contacts the mud flap. the springs will settle and flatten out some as they break in so remember that when you set up the shackle angle.

You dont need no stinking instructions Understand how it works and make it work for you. Show that spring who's boss! Hope this helps.

Post up some pictures. BTW I would never locate hangers based on what some instructions say. Everybody has different preferences, tire sizes, etc. you need to understand how the leaf works and locate the hangers off of your own measurements.

Install some removable mud flaps... When you hit the trail, pull them out and then they can't be making contact with the tire! Genius, huh?!

good advise I would redo the rear end and move it forward on the front mounting hangers run a string middle of the well and have the axle center line line up with the string get a few good tacts and flex for fitment after both sides are tacted in place
