Where should I mount my farm jack/Hi-lift??

So I got a killer deal on a Hi-Lift style jack from harbor freight. 40 bucks out the door I couldn't pass it up. I saw a jeep the other day with it mounted on the hood, I like how that looked but I'm not sure as if it would look good on my 95 4runner? I eventually wanna fab up a rear-swing-out tire bumper but that won't be for awhile. Anybody have pictures of where they mounted theirs or insight on where I should mount mine?

I think I am going to mount it on the hood... Anyone disagree? Would this put to much weight on the hood and possibly bend the metal?

Possibly. I wouldn't like the visual obstruction.

That's true.. I've seen quite a few jeeps with it there, but I guess my yota is no jeep!

I'd go with what you suggested with the sway out spare tire rack. I have a 91 4Runner and was trying to picture what the jack would look like on the hood, I personally won't mount one there.

Mounted outside in the weather will render it useless or stolen quick. Mount it in the cargo area out of the way and when you need it, it will be there and in working condition.

X3 on mounting it inside, if you do mount it on the hood, you will have to drill holes and it will put quite a bit of strain on the hood. You would have to put in a support beam to keep the pressure from putting a big dent right where it is mounted. If I could mount mine inside I would, there is just not enough room in a standard cab PU.

Remember a Hi-lift is a tool and piece of mind, its not bling to put on and show off.

I spray my hi-lift with chain wax, keeps it working great, but i also do not keep it on the swing out. when i am not using it(on the trail). Also I use a lock to keep it from walking, or just take it off...anything can be stolen.

I second the cargo area. Only jeep guys mount it on the hood to look cool and pretend to wheel. We, with yotas, do not pretend to wheel...... and are cool

Wink

As the Goat herder said it is a tool

He knows what he is talking about Goats will go just about anyplace and a Good Goat herder has to be able to chase them down.

Truth be told I have no idea how this new Hi Lift jacks work in the old days they pretty much lived in the back of pick up trucks . Covered with mud and anything else that got thrown in the back of a truck .

Now mine lives inside heat in the winter Ac in the Summer But ready to work if need be.

I know mine saved me from some interesting nights in the woods.

Hi Lift jack on the Hood is right there with having a rifle in a Pick up gun rack May as well just have a sign saying steal me.
