new guy with a question, pics of problem included

Hi guys,
My first post here and I am hoping i can get the help I need. I just bought a 95 4Runner and the tailgate is rusted. I got a new one from a salvage yard that needs to be painted. I have it all ready to go except for one problem..... removing the old lock on the tailgate.

There was no key with the new tailgate and I want to take the old one out and put in the new one, I can not figure out how to remove the old one. In the pic i have already removed the e-clip and washer that was there.

I have a photo of it below, thanks for the help.

DJ

Iam not completely sure this will work but after you have the clip off i would think that if you turn it till it comes out. I have changed them before on other trucks and there is a slot and when you turn it to the slot it will fall out. I hope that works for ya. Hope that makes since..

1. Remove the clip in the direction of the arrows.
2. Rotate the cylinder counter clockwise to line up the tab with the small hole that extends out a little more than the circle, and jiggle the lock assembly until it gets one of the tabs out, then work on the second tab (opposite location on circle) until it comes all the way through.

You can take it to a local locksmith and he can rekey it to match your current keys.
