So my 91 4Runner tailgate was rusted to crap, wiring all gone, and the window bracket is pretty much SOL. Bought a 90 4Runner tailgate and the wiring is a bit different where the terminal plugs together inside the cargo area on the drivers side... Tried splicing all the wires according to their colors, there is one extra wire on the 90 tailgate (12 wires) and the 91 tailgate (11 wires) and got power to the lights/reverse, but not the window motor or lock... Anyone done this swap before or have suggestion or a HOW-TO to make this work? Appreciate the answers if any, thanks

 

Before installing you did make sure the new window motor worked??

Have you checked for power at the window motor??

Do you have a good ground for the motor??

Was the old one working ??

What is the extra wire for??

Have you made a bad splice on one of the connections??

Time to break out the meter

What is the extra wire for?? DONT KNOW, WAS HOPING SOMEONE HERE WOULD HAVE A WIRING DIAGRAM TO SHOW ME....

I ended up putting a 93 tailgate into my 90. There was an extra wire as well, I just capped it off and window worked like a charm. Could be one of your connections
