22re no start

'92 4x4 22re

About two months ago parked my truck downtown to get a coffee, came back and it wouldnt start. At first it would fire up for a second, then barely hold an idle for 5-10 seconds, then die. After doing this a few times it wouldnt fire at all. Super wierd, had no problems prior to this. Fiddled with a few random things, tried jumping Fp to B+, no luck. After about 45 minutes, after finding nothing conclusive it fired up. Miracle. Didnt have any more problems.

Until a few days ago. Same thing happened, started and barely held an idle (200ish rpms). I immediately jumped out, popped off the air intake and opened the AFM flap. Another miracle, held a steady idle at the normal 750rpm. Didn't last long, and eventually sputtered and died. Tried all my usual tricks, including bashing the AFM with a hammer, but again no luck. After 15 minutes of messing around, not doing anything in particular it randomly fired up and had no more problems for the past couple days.

Now it won't fire again. No miracles this time. Tested the AFM, the resistances are good. Jumping Fp to B+ doesn't fire the fuel pump with the key 'on', although it didn't start the fuel pump when I was messing around the other times either (is a regular paper clip good enough? Thats what I'm using). I am getting volts on the b+ jumper if that indicates anything. Topped up my coolant. Fuses (efi and all) look good. Grrr. What else to check? Thinking of cutting a hole in my box so I can check the wiring at the fuel pump, although i imagine its fine, redid the connections two years ago with a real bomber job.

Ideas? Thanks.

EGR maybe? Mine does that sometimes (before my ignition failed), would start, run, then die, sometimes it will rev high, low, high low, bounce the tack needle. I dunno, it it were me, i'd start at the tank, and work my way towards the engine, to me it almost sounds like an intermittent ground on the fuel delivery, or the egr. I'm still somewhat a "newb" fellow yotatech, please refrain from bashing me, with my input.
