Price for an 84-85 front axle

I found a solid front axle off an 85. The junkyard is asking $425 and I believe it is complete. Is this price too much?

Depends. I'd wait for one on Craigslist, unless you desperately need it. I bought my 1989 FJ62 axle completely assembled and with everything for 275.

I really wanted 84-85 year for an SAS. I don't need, but want. Is there a better axle (Toyota) for a SAS

Paid $200 for a complete 85 axle less the 3rd cause I didn't want or need an open 4.11 3rd.

I think that is too much around here anyway. Your local market may be different.

84-85 is a good year. It runs 8" diffs and they're pretty easy to come by.

Im going with an FJ62 axle. its "stronger" than a 84-85. has a 9.5" diff, but requires more work. you have to do a SOA conversion, run your own brake lines, and other things. I'm going with the Fj62 axle because im going with a shortened FJ80 rear. both are 9.5 diffs

Cool, well think I'm just going to stick to the 84-85 to make things easier. Just don't know if this price is as good as its going to get

If you're dedicated to the mini truck axle. I'd open my options to an 83 too... Its still beefy, but doesn't have the full gusset like the 84-85. But itll still work.

300 to 400 is fair. Your time is worth money. You might save a $100 or so by waiting. If it's bolt in ready, pull the trigger. I just sold one for $300 (lasted 2 days and it was gone).

The factory truss runs along the bottom.
Any mini truck axle you pick up you will want (need) to do an upper truss and a knuckle gusset kit Anyway.

79-80: no truss
81-83: mid truss
84-85: truss extends to the u bolt

^^79-85 Had draglinks, push pull steering sucks. Sometimes people also confuse the track bar (mounted midway on d/s of axles)
