How many rear leafs can I remove?

I have a question- I am lifting a 1983 yota pickup and i am going to remove a few leaf springs from the rear. (front is done). (prevous owner put in extra leaves for a total of 6 spring leaves) i was wandering how many i could take out to still be safe ? i want the truck to be very soft (its not going back on the road, offroad only) but i am not sure how many to take out ? help would be great. I am talking the lift of a wrecked 85 yota i bought but not the springs (they are rusty and crapy). So i want to use the factory springs for now (till i get enough money for better aftermarket springs). Thanks.

some of the 2WD guys "monoleaf" it, but if you go to just the single, you run the chance of breaking it. As long as you keep the overload spring you will be fine.
