vibration at 45+ sometimes...
My truck has about 278K on it now. i had a constant vibration for a few months prior from slinging a wheel weight. i was busy with school and life so i ignored it. about a month ago i had a full alignment with a rotate and balance and the vibration was completely gone. it was like driving a new vehicle. the next week i had new rotars and pads installed. while driving it home above speeds of 45 the steering wheel shakes like driving on a washboard road, sometimes. My 4x4 tcase lever shakes, sometimes. my dash bounces like it is about to fall off, sometimes. since then i took ire back in to check the balance and the alignment and all is good. i also had them check my TREs and ball joints as well as my bushings and those checkout as well. I came across a post about steering wheel slip joint slack and that checked out aswell

anyways i check the rotor install and everything is correct and torque properly. i am at a loss as to why the vibration is so bad and only occurs sometimes. any help or thoughts as to what else i can check to get this problem fixed would be greatly appreciated.

I just got back from a suspension shop, they found nothing wrong and didn't want to sell me anything... i am lost. i didn't have the bad vibration until after the brake job. there is no way i can just "live with it".

I had my driveshaft built in may of last with off the shelf joints since Toyota said i had to buy a whole new driveshaft.
The rotors do not look warped. It does not vibrate while braking below 45mph. no vibration at all in the pedal.

Well just to make sure. jack the rear axle up and place on jack stands. So the tires are off the ground a little and the runner is still at ride height. get the wheels spinning see if there is vibration. (not too fast). If there is vibration take the wheels off (put a couple lug nuts back on to hold brake drums) get those spinning. if no vibration its probably the wheels\tires. If there still is a vibration, disconnect the drive shaft from the transmission and start up again and check for vibration.
I went though this a month ago. I thought it was because my tires were improperly balanced. Turned out to be the drive shaft.

So i went out last night to play around in the snow and i noticed that in 4hi there is no vibration at any speed. so i guess i need to figure out what is wrong that will make it vibrate in 2wd at 45+ sometimes but not in 4wd...

I have kinda got used to it but i cannot figure out how a pad and rotor change could have caused this... especially when an alignment and tire specialist can't figure it out nor a steering and suspension shop...

Ok question... if a cv joint is going out would that cause vibration? i was under the truck and noticed my driver cv boot blew out its grease. the boot is not ripped or torn it just blew out the grease though the clamp. do our cvs free spool or do the rotate with the tires? if they rotate that could explain my vibration in 2wd but not in 4 when there is torque applied to the shaft.
