Angry Fast idle screw makes no contact, wrong screw?

This is on an 86' 22r guys and i've got this carb just about dialed in after a rebuild with a couple exceptions. i punch the gas twice, start it up, and it just seems to race. the problem is that the fast idle adjustment screw is like a 1/4" away from doing anything and even if it was it would just increase rpm's? also, the fast idle cam doesn't disengage automatically but i can bump the gas and it kicks off after warming up so i know the choke is working. any ideas would be great because i cannot find an answer anywhere online. a picture would be even better.

On the up side, you knew what to look for... just looking in the wrong place.

Congrats.
