Can't do it. See FSM in signature line.

The stock head bolts are more than sufficient.

I don't know of anyone that's actually used studs on this engine. So not only are they a ridiculously expensive option, there's no real evidence/proof that they work any better than the bolts.

On my 3vze, I did remove both heads with the cams installed. But, there are a few head bolts that cannot be completely removed (or installed) with the cam in place. I did not want to mess around with the cams or shims. Eventually, I decided to remove the cams so I could retool the heads and install new head bolts. Before removing, I just marked each cap with an arrow for direction. I marked the bucket lifters and removed each one as well.

One thing,....when your cam is out, unless you remove the bucket lifters, do not turn upside down.

When I went to put it all back together, I just put each piece in the identical location and torqued to spec. It was pretty easy and strait forward. Been running fine ever since.

Im glad thats yall workin on those 3.slo's and not me. Id rather slam my head repeatedly in a car door than put two new heads on that thing. Helped my buddy do his about 8 months ago. What a PITA.

I will give you some advice though. Thoroughly check that you are putting those head gaskets on the right side. If not youll block a coolant port and be doin it again

Tough call.... maybe check your oil sensor..but I wouldn't fool around with low oil pressure.
