22RE Cylinder head integrity....

BEFORE I START, LET ME SAY THAT I HAVE SEARCHED FOR SOMETHING ON THIS TOPIC BEFORE I POSTED THIS.

I recently had my head dipped and the valves done to get her cleaned up for the rebuild. When the machine shop had it, they said they found a crack in one of the spark plug entries. So instead of calling me and verifying the repair, they just went ahead and welded it and milled the deck. Now I have to use a shim plus a head gasket for reassembly.

My question is: Will the integrity of the head hold up in the future, or do I have to find another means for reassembly?

I could use some advice as to what to do with the head, and where to acquire another one if this is intolerable.

Here is a pic of the head before the machine shop

I had a problem almost identical to that last year in my 93 4x4 22re i was told to shim it and everything and to be honest i beat my trucks up pretty bad and the head gasket blew after 4000 miles i bought a brand new head and had it shaved and reassembled it with a hot rod cam and she still runs strong with rock timing...IDK if it helps but its what ive seen

I would replace it. You can get a brand new head from Engnbldr for about $350.

I have a cylinder head from a 91 22RE. The head came off an engine with ~190K miles, that wore through the timing chain cover and dumped coolant into the oil pain. I'll part with it for $50 plus shipping.
