Talking New windshield and trim for my 88!

I had a new windshield and black rubber trim installed on my 88 yesterday, it looks 100X better than it did without any trim and in my opinion, 1000X better than it did with the stock chrome trim! It would have cost $100 to pull the old glass and just re-seal it and install the new trim but I had them install a whold new windshield since mine had a few big chips, it was $225 installed at my work. Looks great to me

Ahhhhhhhh, how a new windshield feels. I recently got mine done also they ran out of the chrome trim so I got black also, took me a minute to like the black but either way it looks good. Its amazing how pitted you don't realize it is till you get some new glass.

looks good and something I have been thinking of doing. Joe's 4runner has been missing a down-piece and 2 corners since he got it, and even though I now have those trim pieces from a friend, I have considered doing this upgrade ourselves. I saw 4crawler had a write-up and have searched on JcWhitney for the trim......just haven't really planned it out well yet.

10000000x better than it did! I didnt realize how expensive the stock trim is, Toyota wants just south of $500 for all of it! I like the black, I removed the chrome rain gutter trim at the same time when I painted it a few years back after installing the fiberglass bed... Lots of fun, too bad Im going to be parting ways with it after all these years soon, I cant justify keeping it and my Taco D cab any longer

The trim doesnt quite fit the upper corners 100% but Im going to just use black silicone and fill them in,and Im only talking about a 1/4" gap right at the apex of the corner. This trim hooks to the windsheild itself, then is all glued back in place. The only thing about it is, the new glass doesnt have the black border to hide the glue, but if you didnt know, you would never notice. I did find a rubber gasket that does the same thing but the installer said they are a PITA to install and actually weaken the cab of the truck...

If your rear bumper one of Kyle Kirbys??? If so I have the same one on my 88! I had him build it without the hitch hole, it looks great!

yes it is. Only installed it last summer when I gave my truck a thorough refreshing. I love the look my truck has now.

tried searching JcWhitney...kinda in a hurry and did not find what I was looking for in the windshield trim. I know I've found it on there before, so I just have to do a better job.

I know this is old, but does someone have a link to the how-to thread that was mentioned? My chrome trim is toast and I'm not paying toyota what they want so black it is!

I installed my own WS last year I was thinking of the doing the same with the black trim. However my metal trim is good shape and decided to keep it. BTW, you're just a few miles from me, I'm in Martinsburg.

PM sent but I just had a glass company replace mine, when they came I had them use the widest possible trim they had then filled in the corners with black silicone! Not much to write up on this one! I think it was under $150 installed and made a massive difference in how the truck looked and driving in the rain etc. was much better. Worth every cent.
