1985 SR5 Pickup,whats it worth?

Something caught my eye driving today, a 85 pickup for sale. SFA and EFI all ready to go. It has a 260,000,body is a little banged up but nothing serious, paint is faded but pretty much rust free, interior would need a little work, cracked sunroof, funny clutch, started and ran fine, I didn't drive it very far, steering seemed a little loose, 4wd worked, inspected throught the year.
The seller was asking $2000, but he was out of town. I talked with his brother,we both agreed that $2000 was way over priced. I'm thinking seven or eight hundred. The seller didn't seem to care about it being an 85.
What do people think is a fair price to pay? It would be a project more than a daily driver.
I don't know whether or not I would restore it or part it and convert my IFS. I figure I could part just the interior for a hundred, cluster, clock, seats, dash.

Part it over to your IFS?! Part your IFS over to the SA!

If you can negotiate the guy down below a $1000, and it is mechanically sound (maybe even bump it down more since the clutch is acting up), you would have yourself a nice trail truck to start on. You wouldn't have to worry about modding your daily driver, which would allow you to do more crazy stuff to the trail truck, since mpg wouldn't be an issue.

If you can afford it, and you want a project truck (about the interior, rip out everything and rhino line it, water proof it, then you can spray it out with a hose), definately atleast tell the guy you are interested, before someone else can snatch it up.
