I must be the dumbest person on Earth.

I read 50 articles and instructions on converting the weber 32/36 electric choke to a manual but I cannot figure out how to attach the cable to the choke. Does the choke cable attach to the round brass part that fits in the electric choke coil?

I've read the instructions from JToutfitters, but I still don't get it. I've got TWO kits and lots of other misc clamps/ parts but I cannot figure out how to attach the cable to the manifold OR the choke assembly. Sigh. . . this was "suppose" to be "another easy job."


This is the round knob that fits into the electric choke coil - about 1/8" thick, surely I'm not expected to drill a hole through that.


Here is a picture of the choke cable, I don't understand how to attach it.

I REALLY need some pics of someone's converted choke on a 32/26. If I continue removing the choke assembly then I lose the fast-idle adjustment screw and a lot of other linkage.

Im sure someone will chime in. But why would you wanna go from a electric to a manual?

 

Are you sure there isn't a small clamp included in your conversion kit?

The automatic choke doesn't work very well and I feel like it's another complication in the system - something else to break. I want the freedom to control my own butterfly valve.

There are several clamps, no instructions in the conversion kit (HELP! Section of auto parts store). I also have a lot of misc parts, clamps, brackets, etc, from work that are for choke cables.

If I attach the choke cable to what is pictured above, it's not exactly a straight-pull. The thing with the dot of yellow paint just slightly in the way. If I can figure out how/where to attach the choke cable the rest should be easy. I'll post photos of the completed installation for others searching the forum when it's finished.

EDIT: I seen you mention the JT kit already. Did the kit you have have a new choke cover or are you attempting to do this with the original cover?

 

I have all the parts in the JT kit. I'm going to use a new cover.

 

Cable doesn't go under cap. It goes on the outside. Read the JT directions again. That cable gets attached to the swivel assembly that gets bolted to the actuator lever that goes through the cap and moves the choke rod which you want to drill a hole through. There should already be a bolt that attaches to that swivel assembly for the cable with the hole in it.
