I've been interested in running a 4 link rear for a couple of years now and may take the plunge within 6 months if the budget is right (I have a big family). I currently live overseas with access to machine shops and welders @ reduced cost so fabing the links and mounts would be cheap. I've excepted the cost of joints and I'm willing to pay for quality sets as these wear out. So, the last costly component is shocks. Coil-overs are not cheap although I understand that they're the best for this setup. What about air shocks? A search through the forums pulled up some trail feedback (Which looked good! ) but nothing about daily drivers. I understand that they would not work on high speed racing over rough terrain but would they overheat and stiffen just from everyday road driving? It would be a healthy mix of city and highway with most distances less then 15 miles. Anyone have firsthand experience?

 

Air shocks aren't a good idea on a DD. They aren't meant for heavy loads. They're meant for lightweight tube buggies and truggies.

The next cheapest option would be separate coils and shocks.
