Auto to manual swap help needed

Hey my name is Steve. This is my first forum so I'm not sure how this works but, if anyone could instill some knowledge on this subject I would greatly appreciate the help. I have an 87 yota extra cab 4x4 truck. My dad and I recently did a transmission swap. We went from an auto to a manual. We pulled the tranny out of an 88 4runner. Dad did a tranny swap on his 4runner previous to this and it cranked right up after connecting all the wires and the neutral safety switch..... mine did not. I have everything connected, I have checked and double checked and even checked fuses. I cant seem to figure it out. I start it by turning the key on and crossing the leads on the starter. I'm in the long slow process of restoring and modifying this classic, beautifully designed machine and would appreciate any insight.

Wink

Could be just a weak solenoid on the starter that needs the 12 volts direct.

Did you jumper out the neutral safety switch correctly ?/ Bad connection here will rain on your parade.

That should be the only thing not allowing it to start . That you changed.

For some reason your not getting the power to the solenoid

Check the voltage at the starter solenoid with the key turned to start and the wire removed from the solenoid.

Could be a broken wire bad connection .

Should give you a start.

Reconnect the battery. Check the neutral safety switch. Make sure you have the correct wires connected
