Truck is 94 P/U 4X4 5spd

So I am getting on the interstate and in between shifts the truck floors itself. A couple of times it was even going to WOT while in gear. The kicker is NOTHING is sticking at all. The throttle body moves as it should, the cable isn't tight. The floor mat is nowhere near my gas pedal. To make things even sweeter it is intermittent. Has anyone else experienced this?

 

Absolutly never experienced or even heard of that happening.
Cruise control maybe?

 

Yikes! Good thing these trucks only make about 20 hp!

I'm usually around wot when I merge onto the interstate anyway...

 

No cruise control. I am not really worried about it per say. If anything it is comical to me

 

My throttle cable did this to me. It looked fine on the outside, but had started to fray at the firewall.

 

fray'ing cable shouldn't cause it to floor itself. Would only make it stick as far as you pushed it.

 

Replaced my cable & no more issues. The plastic at the firewall was cracked and the frayed cable would stick there. You push the clutch in & take the load off the engine. Revs up.

 

The engine should be able to move all over the place without affecting the throttle position. Unless the outer sleeve of the cable is completely broken, in which you should notice all kinds of roughness at the throttle. Right?

And a TPS malfunction wouldn't be able to add power through the fuel system without enough air from the throttle body at the same time.

Just sayin. Could be a cable i guess, but doesn't seem physically possible.
Your engine shoulnt move enough to peg the throttle even if you tied a rope from the throttle to the fender. Unless you have water ballon motor mounts.

 

Everything seems to be kosher and it hasn't happened in 2 weeks. I guess I will just wait until it does it often before I try to diagnose..

On another funny note, the entire clear coat on my hood blew off the other day. I was just cruising down the road and the whole clear coat just blew off. I was in tears laughing so hard!
