Oil Pump Seal

i have an 89 toyota pickup 4x4. the driver side timing chain guide broke so i got the whole kit to fix it. i got it all back together and now i believe that an oil leak is coming from the oil pump seal. I read up and found out i should replace it with the 94 oil pump seal. (Which i did) There is a groove in my pulley which i thought that the different seal would keep it from leaking. Is there anything else i shoulda did before installing the new seal? Cuz i am going to have to take it apart and fix it. any input would be appreciated.

I have always given in and just bought the new pulley in theory the new seal should ride on a fresh surface of the shaft .

I had three different seals but only one fit... I got mine from engnbldr or low range offroad, if you get both i bet one will seal it up
