88 4runner check engine light and ebrake light!!

ok so i left for school this morning and my check engine light came on and there was a huge loss of power. Soon after my ebrake light also came on but soon turned off. So i turned around and got my other truck a 97 taco 2wd lowered 5sp 4cyl =) and went to school. The truck ran fine minus the loss of power so i dont't know why the lights are on.

i do't htits the alt because the at transmission fluid temp light, ebrake, and battery charge light come on when my alt dies...ive gone through about 4 soo

If you've replaced 4 alternators, you have other problems. I'd guess shorts in the wiring harness somewhere that's burning up alternators. I got 218,000 miles on my original Denso.

well two have been because they got wet and obviuosly they dont do well in water...one i bought a 150 amp one and it was faulty the other was bad when i bought the truck. And i have done the self diagnostic test and the pattern of the blinking light tells me its the water temp sensor so today in my two auttech periods i will be taking a look at that.

so yesterday we took the water temp switch and sensor off and cleane the terminals bu the light is still on. acording to all data the resistence on he switch is fine but the sensor is definitely bad. I wll be replacing both this weekend...and the ebrake light has gone out copletely.

well we fixed it i replaced the tps and water temp sensor and runs like a charm the idle is even a little lower and its quite a bit smoother. I heard somewhere on here that if you turn the tps left or right it will lean it out because i know from the factory it supposedly ran rich.
