Question Selling my stock 16in. wheels – any recommendations?

Stock OEM 16x7 alloys with center caps. I will be selling them in the next couple weeks. Click on my sig to see a pic.

My questions are:

Should I sell them as a set?

Ebay has good exposure, but shipping will be $20 each. What do you think?

I could sell them individually…how about that?

Obviously I am in it for the money. Anybody have any experience with selling their stock wheels? They are in great condition with normal wear and tear – nothing major. A wrecking yard offered me $125. No dice on that offer. I want at least $200 for all of them after shipping

Thanks!

I went to a local Toyota yard and sold mine to the guy there for $200. I think I could have gone higher but I didn't feel like haggling and just wanted the dang things off my hands.

I don't know if Ebay's going to be a good place - if you check out their finished auctions on rims like those, very few have exceeded $200 and most of the time they have tires on them.

Good luck!

I advertised them on my local TTORA and they sold in about 2 days, thus no SHIPPING!

I have sold a few sets of wheels (no they weren't stolen!!)

I sold a set of 2000 Civic Si wheels. $20 per wheel shipping sounds a little optimistic to me. I sent my wheels (in seperate boxes) via ups and it ran me just under $120.00 I sold the wheels for $360/set, so I made out pretty good.

I sold a set of stock 1994 ranger wheels to a used hubcap/wheel shop for $300.

I sold a set of Eagle alloys from autotrader for $500 (with tires). Locally.

Try going to big-o or something and see how much $ they would give you for a trade.

Christian, are you upgrading to da bling? Rollin on 20's yo!!

Sell them on ebay. Done it a couple of times. They pay the shipping...it's great. I think my 2002 went ~$400 and off my 1999 taco went for $360. Best thing going.

Hey, I always say - if you got it, flaunt it

You've spent a good amount of time on yours - you've earned every right to show it off

I actually payed 280 for a set of used stock 16x7 alloys. Without lugs too! Which was an extra 150. But we won't go into that. I'm pretty sure you can get at least 240 Christian. just wait for the right buyer.

Theoretically, you can get the buyer to pay shipping, just say in the ad that buyer pays shipping, and maybe give an estimate...

But you probably won't get top dollar, since people look for smokin deals on ebay.

Actually from one Mike (INsr5runner) here on Yotatech. I wasn't planning on doing it, kinda a spur of the moment thing.

I would try advertising them in your local newspaper before you put them on ebay. Worth a shot to sell locally.

Christian. I saw a 4Runner at school yesterday with black wheels. They used the Tacoma steel 16" wheels and had them powdercoated. Looked good! Are you doing that or buying black rims?

You could buy 3 spare tires, those are black. But ugly!

Travis -

I am buying black rims. The powdercoating was going to run me around $250 on the stockers! I should have the rims on by Friday. I will post a couple pics next week.

Another reason I am doing it is the backspacing (4.75”) on the new rims. I need more stability and an increased safety factor. 4Runners are known for not fairing so well in evasive maneuvers, and that bugs me.

I really like the look. It may be a dime a dozen, but I still like it.

Funny, cause I have seen ricers try to run 4 spares at the track!

Not yet.

I have 265/75/16's right now. They are a good all around tire (Pirelli's). It could look a little funny, but we'll see. I dont have much lift anyway.
