Hi, I am very interested in converting from ADD to manual locking hubs and I just had a few questions.

1. Since Aisin hubs are hard to come buy and are usually beat up or expensive when in good condition, what would be the best aftermarket hub?

2. I was looking at Warn hubs, since I've heard nothing but good things about all their products. On their website, they only have hubs listed for the T100 and the 4Runner. Would the 4Runner hub work with my pickup?

All opinions and such are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

 

Aisin hubs are very strong hubs and you can't go wrong with them, I had warn hubs when my runner was ifs and I didn't care for them, they would randomly pop out of lock on me, just my 2 cents

 

You can get used ones for anywhere between $80-$125 on here when they pop up. These things can take a beating and keep coming back for more. Do not ruin your Yota by running anything other then the toy aisin hubs. I'd rather roll with ADD then switch them to a non-aisin unit.

Get a set Aisin's, you'll be very happy and you won't ever second guess yourself once there on, trust us!!!!
I had an 84 with auto hubs, didn't think twice, I looked and looked and finally found a set of manual aisins and they were great :}

 

Just keep looking. I picked up a nice set for $20 on craigslist just the other day.

 

Warn's Toyota hubs are the one Warn product that fails to live up to Warn's reputation for awesome products.

 

I'm definitely with the crowd here with Aisin hubs. I replaced my ADD hubs on my 94 4Runner with Aisins I bought on Ebay. There are four pairs on there now...there's a clean set for $135. Another good option is wait for a set in the classifieds here. Or buy a refurburbished set from waskillywabbit. He's got a awesome online store with a lot of products. Whatever you do, don't buy aftermarket. And DO NOT buy MileMarkers. I had a set on my F350 Dana 60 that I bought new and lasted only a year. I now have Warns on there that have at least 4 years/plow seasons on them (standard hubs, not the premium hubs) and they are doing great. I have no experience with the Warns on the Yotas but I have never seen any complaints here on the stock Aisin hubs. My 88 4Runner came with Aisin hubs. They are getting harder to turn and I probably should take them off to clean 'em. But they have always worked.

You can get the Aisin hubs cheaper used and used Aisin hubs are as good or probably better than a new set of aftermarket hubs. And check out opinions on previous threads here and other forums...I'm sure you will see what the reigning majority says about Aisins. You can't go wrong...

Oh yeah, forgot...Just keep looking. I picked up a nice set for $20 on craigslist just the other day Good point mtnwkr. Forgot about Craigslist. Way cheaper than Ebay.

 

I guess it all has to do with what your doing with your vehicle.

I run warn hubs on my Toyota 4X4 and never have issues nothing but problems with the Aisan hubs but they could have been caused by the former owners.

I wish I would not have thrown the aisan hubs out with the scrap

 

I bought a set of refurbed Aisin hubs on ebay 6 years ago for $65 & haven't had an ounce of trouble out of them. They were powder coated, too. Keep an eye out; you'll find a deal

 

just installed a set of the Aisin hubs over the weekend. got mine for free , all I did was rebuild them and paint too.

 

I drive my truck on the street probably 95% of the time, mostly highways to college. I have the ADD, which I heard doesn't disconnect all the time or something like that. So I mainly want a set for the fuel economy savings. The only offroading I do is in the snow or the occasional blast through some muddy fields. I found a couple on ebay. This may sound like a dumb question and I think I know the answer already, but do all the IFS Toyotas from '87 - 95 have 26 spline hubs?

 

Were they the premium Warn hubs? If so, I find that hard to believe becaise they have a 9/10th of a turn to engage. But, I shouldn't question you because I've never used them, hense me creating this thread xDDDD

 

Has anbody suggested a salvage/Pick-n-Pull yard to you, There a great place to get a set of factory aisin lockouts from a wreaked truck or 4Runner...

To bad you don't live near chicago, there is a guy in schnider IN that is South of Chicago that has a set on CL for 45 bucks...

Wabbit knows all about the aisin lockouts, He's a lockout guru :} just PM him any questions. Buy a set from him and you know there done right!!!!

 

There is a salvage yard about 15 miles from my house. The bad thing is that there is someone who I went to school with that lives next to it who has had at least 6 Toyotas in his lifetime and gets all his parts there. We never find anything when we go there because their all stripped to nothing xD

 

Ya Pick n pull is great. Me and my cousin went there and he picked up a set for 45 bucks! lol They looked almost new to.

 

Well that does suck, You might have to go further out, I go to Indy, that's 65 miles one way, just do a google search for yards in your area, that how I found the one in Indy I like going too...Good luck on your search!!!!

The reason I bought them off Ebay is because I didn't have much luck with the yards around my area...I called around and the ones that had them wanted like $65-75 for one side and at some places I had to pull 'em myself. The set I bought were like near brand new, all clean and all parts. I bought some other items with them...I think I got a rear view mirror w/lights, lower storage pocket under radio and the hubs for $135. I believe the hubs were $115...I think. More expensive than what you guys paid, but my options were limited...

 

Idk which ones they were, the PO had them on when I bought it, all I know is they were warn and they got me super stuck several times cause they'd just pop out, got aisins now and never had a problem, and I give em hell too
