Help Choosing a great day trip near Los Angeles

Hi all, I am finally getting around to fixing up my rig to make it trail worthy(replacing the knuckle seals, bearings, tie rod ends, etc.) and would like to do a run in the next weekend or two. I was wondering if anyone here has run the San Gabriel OHV park and/or the Rincon Shortcut and if you have what one is better for a day trip? Also any details about these spots would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

dont know about a day trip, but the first weekend of march is the tierra del sol off road safari in so-cal. its at truckhaven off road park in saltin city just off hwy 86. show up early on thursday to get good camping spot. stay all weekend or pack up and go home the next day. although a 5hour drive for one day of wheeling probly isnt worth it.

It's a full day but well worth it -

You can go up to Red Rock Canyon for Nightmare Gulch or run Last Chance Canyon for an little easier trip.
