Charging system only at 12.4 v... Help

I have a new alternator, voltage regulator, battery. And only charging at 12.4v. When I disconnect one battery cable the car dies, the battery light is also on. Anyone have this problem before or know what could be wrong?? My charging system was fine before with a voltage regulator and battery. my alternator was making a little noise and was still charging find but I decided to replace the alternator and now I have this problem.

Sound like your "new" alternator might be bad. Get it tested at the parts store?

I was having problems with my charging system on my truck(79) and ended up just upgrading to the newer style (86-?) alternator that has a built in regulator. Requires splicing wires, but will simplify your charging system and you will have a higher output alternator.
