I have a 85 4x4 pickup with manual tranny. I have the transfer case in neutral because everytime i release the clutch it is turning the drive shaft with the tranny in neutral. If I put the tranny in gear and start releasing the clutch it starts to kill the engine. Feels like it is bound up. I have removed the shifter to see if there is any noticable problems but can't see much. With the end off I can shift thru the gears with the shifter but the tranny never goes into neutral. Is it possible that a shift fork has jumped and the tranny has a forward and rev gear engaged together making it bind up? Help.

Probably going to have to pull it apart and take a look would be my guess.

 

Yea I agree. I removed it last night and will tear it down tonight to see what the malfunction is. thanks
