22r rough idle and backfiring

Alright, so I searched for a while but couldn't quite find the answer to what is going wrong.

So I recently took an 86 22re and put an 85 22r intake on it. So after that it's been backfiring throughout ranges, absolutely no power to it (barely has power in low and when in 2nd the engine just bogs down and the rpm drops) although when on the flat or downhill it still accelerates slow but can get up to speed. But when I go up a hill at speed the rpms just drop and I have to keep shifting down, sometimes to low to crawl up it. When it's in gear it tends to stall out when I go from the gas to the brake at low speeds.

if you just slapped a 22r intake on there, you missed a bunch of stuff that needs to be done. Cannot begin to even think of where to start. Maybe try searching for a few 22re to 22r threads. I believe there are at least 2 on here.

I changed the distributor to the vacuum advanced one from the donor engine, same with the fuel pump. I just pulled the efi fuse though, I haven't done any work to the tank.

As far as how I did it, I had previously de-smogged the carburated truck. I moved over everything in one big piece, minus a few vacuum lines that I re-hooked up after I installed the intake. I hooked up a few of the sensors that were on there and also changed the coil to the older carburated one.

Red face

Not really a mechanic but when theres backfiring thats a timing problem, or a fuel problem!!

Alright, since this got bumped I thought I would chime in. I figured the problem was the carburetor. So I slapped on a weber 32/36 with manual choke, tore off all that vacuum bs, and now she starts every single time, idles smoother than the -re ever did, and I've got better power. I couldn't of been happier with it
