Speedo, tach, and gauges all just quit...

I've got a 1993 Toyota Pickup 4 cyl 5 spd. This weekend, I noticed that I had lost my speedometer, tachometer, and all gauges except for my gasgauge.

Things I did prior to doing this were unhooking and reattaching the battery, and replacing a license plate light.

I thought I must have blown a fuse, but all the ones under the dash test out, as do the ones under the hood.

The only thing different about what I hooked up was that the license plate replacement had only one wire running to it, and no ground, but I just don't see how that would affect everything else.

Any ideas?

I am thinking your speedometer is electrical driven. I know it is in that year when they changed from mechanical. I would recheck your ENG Fuse by the drivers foot panel.

Check out my thread in post #343. Mine was a backup light wire rubbed bare, just under the protective sleeve.

Radio works. It was a fuse. It tested fine, but upon closer inspection was blown. It keeps blowing as well. I am wondering if I have a bad wire somewhere as well.

Would it do this if
I had a license plate light hooked up with only a hot wire. The ground for it is still attached to the connector that I am replacing. The aftermarket light only has one lead going to it.
