Need legal advice
ok here is the situation, Bought a tacoma from a dealership, they showed me a clean carfax on it and said the title was a clean title, i went to iraq for 6 months came back and the paint on top of the cab had started to crack and upon further investigation the paint was actualy covering up a horrible bondo job that was starting to crack. i went to lift the truck and found many issues with the front suspension being incorrect and the biggest problem was the frame was welded together about 3 feet from the front (just out of normal eye sight) and where the frame vin should be is a vin sticker with no vin on it. a friend of mine is a mechanic and tells me that he belives the truck was wrecked and piced back together. so to make sure i am not crazy i pull the carfax on it and while it still says clean it now says that the truck has been sold again in a different state...WTF somone please help no idea what to do exsept call an atty but what kind of atty am i looking for?

just call a couple and ask if they deal in buisness fraud, false advertising or missrepresentation. you need to get that crap taken care of before the other owners figure this fraud out and blame it on you and you in turn get screwed over. ALSO get ahold of carfax and tell them what happend

aside from the legal route, i would presume you have other avenues too. Better Business Bureau (for what it's worth) is one. What kind of dealership?? A TOYOTA one?? They certainly would love to hear about it too I would think. 3rd thing that comes to mind is that I am assuming you financed some portion of this vehicle's expense. I would think that they would like to know about it as well since it seems that not only was this vehicle misrepresented it was represented in a fraudulent way.
I would start getting all the facts together and making a nice clean paper trail for yourself so you are not stumbling when someone says to show them something. I would think that the old "buyer beware" does not come into play here totally since you did not buy this site unseen off some teeny bopper on EBAY.
good luck.

carfax IMO is a joke.
do a title search and find out if the title is branded...if it is a reconstructed total, it should show up on the title.
sucks about your truck, but thanks for your service

If you're a service member you might be able to get legal assistance through your Judge Advocate General (JAG) office. It couldn't hurt to discuss this with your legal assistance office, and as mentioned above you need to build a consise, factual record of what has occurred and who said what when. I would think your local military command would be interested in car dealers playing fast and loose with VIN numbers and selling such vehicles to service members.
