aftermarket temp sensor locations

I am installing an aftermarket water temperature gauge.
I'm having a hard time figuring out the stock sensor thread size so I can get an adapter.

I'd like to have it installed somewhere before it flows through the thermostat as I think thatd be the most accurate measurement...

I've seen some people have instsalled them in the drain cock location.

How have those sensors held up to the heat under the exhaust?

What is the theread size at the drain cock location?

What is the thread size at the temp gauge location?(Intake manifold)

Thanks for any info...

Pretty sure that's a tapered thread type(BPT?), not sure on the actual thread type though. I put my aux temp sensor in the upper radiator hose....

several people have told me that its tapered(pipe) and others are saying metric...some have gone as far as to say its NOT metric....its my daily so it sucks to pull it just to check the size so I can buy the right adapter lol....
