when i replace the head gasket on my 1990 3vze 4runner, do i need to worry about any other gaskets that will need to be replaced in the process? and what other things will i need to be aware of while replacing the gasket? ive never done this part before so im trying to get it right the first go...

 

First, good luck with the work. Never done one, but I have seen it suggested many times to go ahead and replace the timing belt, waterpump, and thermostat while you're in there. I'd also look at the knock sensor (since it's in the valley) and I would also replace the valve cover gaskets as well as the intake plenum gasket.

 

any estimates on how much all that costs? im just trying to get this thing running for now.

 

no idea, but search the forums. Plenty of guys on here have done this, and they have write ups and pics.
