86 4Runner, engine trashed, what years best for swap?
Yeah, so my engine is trashed so I'm going to find a salvaged truck and drop the engine into my 4Runner. What I don't know is which years are best for a straight swap, mostly for the electrical plug and go. I don't want to be doing any extra wiring if I don't have to.

4 cylinder or 6? Also what transmission? If it's the 22re (4) I believe anything from 1985-1989 will bolt in (someone else will chime in for conformation) although there are differences in intakes (angled vs straight). I don't know about the 6 banger though.
If it is the 4 banger I'm guessing it's the EFI version and not the carburetor equipped one. If it is carbed then its the 22r version and I have no idea which ones will swap in since they are beyond my knowledge.
