i have a 91 pickup with the 3.slow. right off idle it makes a "knocking" sound. it only does it right off idle. it isnt really loud but it drives me nuts because i dont think it should make that noise. maybe im just paranoid? it seems to run fine other than that. no problems at any other RPM's. Only right off idle. Any help or comments would be great.

Have you tried filling up with a tank of premium gas? If it is knock it should make a difference, if not then it is probably not knock.

 

it sounds to me like more of a rod knock or a bearing noise and not a spark knock or a ping
