Question Elford Air Ducts

ELFORD AIR DUCTS ...

What are these and where can I get them?

I saw a picture of a 4R with air ducts located under each headlight.

Leaf,
I saw these pieces on in a picture (white truck) in the member's ride section of YotaTech.

The guy had two on his truck and I have got to have one for the right side of my truck. GOTTA HAVE IT!
So-o-o, who is selling / making these things?

Wow, this is a toughie.

Vic Elford was a famous driver. I tried some google searches for a line of his products...and some usenet searches....

Nothing.

I *did* find other ram air/ cool air intake systems, but not this one.

You could always drop the owner a PM...OR...make your own! I've seen a couple of writeups around re: this. I think gadget and a few others may have experimented with it back on the outdoorwire BBS.

Best of luck, I'll keep my eyes open.

The truck these things are on is a '96 SR5 and the moniker was (I think) ASIMS. In the owner ride section it is captioned EVOLVING 4RUNNER. The ducts did not look home made.

Hi Jason,
Hope all is well with you and your family.

I really want this BUT I only want the passenger side duct plate. Please check on it for me. TIA

BTW, maybe others would be interested in this for supplementing the deckplate mod. I think it looks really cool and I don't think that it would create a water infiltration problem since it is not a continuous hookup to the airbox.

EDIT: Damn, Mr. B beat me to it. I would order through Jason if you get the chance, nothing but good things heard about his outfit.
_______

This is getting personal. I thought the original Elford may have been misspelled, but here's another truck that has them (and a bunch of other goodies too):

Stop drooling.

Sooo....we go to the internet white pages, look this chap up in California....give him a ring and wish him a Merry Christmas?

Elford may be a Japanese company. Racer catalogues may have them. You can try to order them through Jaos or through an importer.

Update:
Found em: http://www.elford.co.jp/

Have fun, let us know how much they run ya too.

Thanks Leaf.

Jesse is a good friend of mine and sold his truck about 2 years ago. Some guy bought it, removed all the stickers, put 20 inch rims on it and then crashed the heck out of it into a used car parking lot!

I have them with 1.5" diameter tubing going from each duct to the airbox. Someday I'll hook up my OBDII and do some temp testing to see how much it cools the intake air.

I cannot imagine that the vent setup you describe makes a lick of difference ... unless of course you are streaking through Wyoming at 250 mph with a Jato strapped to the roof rack. I just like the looks of having ONE on the airbox side, because as you can see by my avitar, the driver's side panel is spoken for. I tell you, that SUPERCHARGED sticker puts the fear of God into the locals around where I live.
