Replacing fan clutch fluid with oil.

I keep hearing that when the silicone fluid in the 22re fan clutch goes bad you can replace it with 20/50 wt motor oil and a little lacquer thinner. I know it sounds crazy but since my fan clutch is really starting to slip, I was wondering if this method had any viability in it.

Thanks for any input!

No idea about that BUT if you have a hobby store near by you can get synthetic shock oil there for way less than the stealership.

I have 4000, 5000, 8000 and 10,000 weight oils on hand for my RC cars and it works perfect in the fan clutch too.

I have no idea but it says it on this website here It claims it's not the best option but works. I'm fine with ordering new silicone fluid but I am curious as to if this redneck method actually works
