hjalti_gto'a 1991 4runner on 44's Ice Truck

Hi guys. The plan was always to put SFA under my truck in front and put on 44 "tires on it.

BUT ITS GONE NOW....

But I decided it last week to just trade my 38 '4runner up to another 44" modifyd 4runner.

Part of its mods are extended wheele base , moving the rear axle back by 10 inches and up front to it has a SFA swap put as much forward as possible

Longer wheel base = more flotation on snow.

four link in front and rear

and alot of stuff i will write about later

Otherwise, It needs some work make it to 100% condition.

But I use the summer to make it ready for next winter season.

5:71 drive ratio
44" Dick Cepek Fun country
15" x 18" wide wheels
AC air pump ,
3 fuel tanks ~ 60 gallaons of gasoline
engine is 3.0 V6
5 speed
Headers / 3" exhaust , K&N filter
Garmin GPS
vhf yaesu
CB President

These photos are older. it has been painted black in the rear part . I'm going to paint it all black later.

And those are the pics i took today

Got any more pics of the front suspension? Link mounts look pretty low. Looks like you found a nice upgrade to your other truck!

update 27. Nov 2011

The trip was good. No travel weather but that does not stop Icelanders
My camera is broken and I can not take the pics from the travel over to my computer
But here are some pics i took today.
nothing specal , but the truck shows.

You can see 3 gas tanks under there.. Enough gas for few days of offroading

dampers are too short, have to be replaced with longer Koni ones.

Not much original in the rear suspension. Rear axle moved back about 8 "

The front axle is a 8" Toyota from a older Hilux which has been strengthened ALOT !

the fourlink is from a Land Cruiser 80 series

Special hydraulic jacks to help manage these large tires

The Special hydraulic jack ( lower ) and the Steering shock ( upper )

The Tires are big 44" Dic k Capek Fun Country on 15" high and 18" wide wheels

air crane on the wheels for quick pumping and discharge of air.

There will be a facelift front there soon

The Cockpit , The GPS , VHF and the buttons next to the radio are for the fuel tanks and air pumps , the buttonst left by the stearing wheel are for the working lights on top og the truck.

And the back. You can see the modyfid rear fender plus fire extinguishers and first aid kit

Hope you like this

I've always loved the ice rigs, even though they all just look like life size remote control cars.

Sweet rig.

3 gas tanks!!!!! DAMN!!!!!!!! That is sweet, i'm having trouble talking the little woman (my wife) into letting me put 1 auxiliary tank on mine. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store for your bumper. I know that its gonna be great!

Yeah guys. I use this car daily, This is my daily driver, drive it to and from work about 60 miles every day. This Truck is NOT a show car. It is being used. The truck runs very well on the highway. 65mph is no problem.

im kind of thinking of building my rig after icelandic trucks... I work for a towing and recovery company, lots of places we wont take our work rigs (they will just sink in the snow) If I had a real snow rig I could make a ton of extra money

No no no.
How does your ENGINE provide the power to turn those
Even with 5.71's that seems like it'd be tough

no not realy.. The tires/wheels arent that heavy.
The rig on 44" and 5:71 drives about the same as my stock Auto 4runner speed and acceleration wise.
