what are the hp/torque ratings a 85 22re v.s. 85 hilux?

i have a 85 4runner with a 22re efi running with a 91 ecu,wire harness, injectors and o2s... (85 block. 91 2wd harness and intake manifold)

i have thinking a lot lately about swaping motors with a 85 hilux diesel. a guy i know has one and i wanna buy it..

just the other day a friend told me not to bother with the swap cause the diesel has less power, is this true?? i would love to make my 4runner a diesel but would it come with a loss in power?

depends which diesel motor it is and if it's turbo or not, but will most likely increase your fuel mileage for sure!

2L: 2.4L I4, 74hp @ 4K rpm, 115ft/lbs @ 2200 rpm

3L: 2.8L I4, 91hp @ 4K rpm, 139ft/lbs @ 2400 rpm

22re: 2.4L I4 (petrol), 108-116 hp (year dependent) @4800 rpm, 135-142 (y.d.) @ 2800 rpm.

Numbers are at the crank on a new engine.

The 22re has high 130's ft/lbs of torque.

91 ECU from what? Probably wouldnt be compatible with whatever you have..

my 4runner is a 85 efi. the original ecu was effed up from water leakin in the windshield, and the previous owner tried to rewire the injectors and such...

so we took a wired harness from a 91 2wd(22re) pickup. ecu, o2s, intake manifold, throttle body and injectors...the hole 9. and then wired them to the 85 ignition.
she runs great! good power, feels like the 91 4wd pickup i had.

i would just love to have a turbo diesel. maybe a 5cyl Mercedes turbo diesel.
