94 3.0 runs fine but getting a loud shhshhshh noise from air intake ...checked and cleaned kn filter pulled top off and hear noise like an obstruction ....buT when you hit the gas it goes away ...only at idle.....SOUNDS LIKE ITS SUCKING OR STARVING FOR AIR>>.

 

Mine does the same thing. I have a k&n also.

 

do you have an intake or factory airbox?

 

Factory air box with a kn .....but even after you remove the air box cover and filter ..you still hear it....looked up in there and that little metal air door is barely open...and if i open it with my finger a bit the truck stalls.....its loud and doesn't seem right....something with the mass air sensor ??

 

I'd bet good money the intake tube is split. Its a common problem on the 3.0. Check where all of the hose clamps connect the system together.

 

hum............at work now but when i get home ill tear it all apart and check it out...
