How much $$ could I get a 3rd gen for?

I was thinking on buying a 3rd gen inplace of the 2nd.
How much do u think it would cost....
Miles dont matter to me.
Good int/ext
Good running order.
And no rust.
I was maybe thinking a 96.

I may have an oppertunity coming and I would like to handle it properly.

Thanks

well, that varies.

your best bet is to check out sites like autotrader.com and leave your search as general as possible. that'll at least give you a starting point.

if i had to give you a price, id say anywhere between $9000 to $14000 for a 96 depending on miles, trim, etc.

You can get a DECENT 96 or 97 4WD SR5 with 120k-175k miles in the $8k to $10k range.

For that, expect it to have minor flaws inside and out and don't expect it to be anything but STOCK.

I just got a 98 SR5 4wd with 63K miles for about 13500 from a dealer.

I had been shopping around a bit and found them for real low if you don't care about miles. Check ebay, you might get a limited with over 100K for around $8K.

in the market

I'm also in the market for a 3rd gen. I want a 2000 SR5 with the 3.4L V6 and a manual transmission. 2000 is the last year for the 5 speed tranny and also the first year for the hood scoop.

The prices I've been getting have been around 22,000 for one with under 45K. If I find a good one in great shape, I'll probably be selling my 1991 4Runner.

Check ebay too.

Last week I saw a '99 supercharged SR5 in immaculate condition despite being kinda high mileage (86k) for the year. It was all black with hood scoop and all options except the one flaw,no E locker. The price? A "buy now" for $13,800. Obviously it sold within a day.

True about the manual tranny, but '99 was the first year for the hood scoop. Black and Jade green were the only choices for the hood scoop in '99. Millenium silver was added to the hood scoop possibilities in '00. Tons of other colors were added with hood scoops in '01 and after.

You're right about the hood scoop, I saw an ad for a '99 with it a few days ago.

I can't seem to understand why toyota dropped the manual tranny for the US market. I'm pretty sure they still put them in the overseas models. I've never been a fan of the automatic, it just takes too much fun away from the driving experience.

I love my 1991 but after 200,000 miles, I'm ready for a new Runner. I really like the green but I think the silver hides dirt better on a day to day basis.

Here's a 96 limited 4wd with 139k miles for less than $5900.

It has a rebuilt title, but if you want one for CHEAP, this may be the way to go....
