I'm doing a couple searches for info and every thread is referring to items by their toyota names, 3vz, w56, etc.... Is there a thread that gives a glossary of what is what so I can tell if what I'm reading is referring to what I have in my truck??? I'm not that much of a toyota geek to know what all the exact numbers are letters and detailed items are. I prefer terms like I drive a V6 with a 5 speed.

I am mechanically inclined though, just not terminology inclined. LOL I've managed to do a full bumper to bumper cage in my pile, just finished up a motor swap and actually am about to start my custom dash inside the cab followed by cutting off the rear suspension and going to a 3 or 4 link in the back.

I'm looking for info on my transmission though and want to make sure I'm reading about the correct tranny.

I donr know of a thread. But you will pick it up quick. 3vz=3.0 v6. w56=4 cylinder trans. Just keep reading and it will make more and more sense. Wikipedia helps too if you are stumped.

Well for instance, I'm looking for info on the rear output seal on my transmission. Well, after reading 4 pages worth of search info I finally found one that I "think" refers to my transmission but I'm not even positive cause they don't actually tell wtf it is!!! I picked up that the W56 is a 4 cyl trans but I'm looking for info on the stock 6 cyl, 2wd, 5 sp. manual trans. That's plain car guy english you see... LOL You know what I mean and I know what I mean... I "think" that is the R150 transmission now after spending 20 minutes reading searches but I'm still not even sure cause R150 means jack to the average person.

I'm not a regular on here and have no intention of being one. I just pop in and do a search on occasion to find what I need.

Heck, I'm going to replace the rear output shaft on the transmission. I just did it about a month ago while I had the transmission out but the one I got from autozone didn't match identical. It looked totally functional though as far as seals go and I just assumed it was a running change type item. Well, 30 miles of driving with the new motor swap and the rear seal is PUKING bad. It was a PITA to get the old seal out and this new one is in there pretty good so I'm worried it's going to be just that much more of a PITA to get this new one out. I'm searching to forums to see if there's a cool trick or neat tool to get it out. I used a home made puller last time with a rigged up hook on the end. Last time though the trans was on the floor of my garage and I'm hoping not to have to pull it to make my life easier. LOL

This will probably help you understand better. The codes are engine and transmission codes. These two list's show ALL the engines and transmissions that toyota uses, so their's alot of info, and not all of these were used with the trucks.

Totally wabbit. I showed that to my T-TEN teacher when I was in college, and he was flabergasted. Kinda mad that they didnt have that when he was going through school too lol

Nope, it's only on 33's. I have no intention of going to 35's. For what I do with it I've got no complaints and I figure it's just added wear and tear I don't need.

Ahhh, right on... I'm not really on here much. Just search for the info I need mostly on here and don't post much. Mostly joined for info on the 3.4 swap while I was doing it but as you can see from my join date I also originally joined years ago at one point when I had a rolling chassis I was going to build. I eventually ended up selling it to Fish, no clue where that thing went though.
